Such a whimsical read, the messages TJ Klune wants to get across are definitely at the forefront of the story which at times feels abit like “ok we get it” but I feel his beautiful whimsy and characters is good enough to outweigh the repetitive messaging, loving it so far

I saw this described as “A Pixar movie in your head” I can confirm this is an accurate description 🤩

Chapters 43 & 44 were absolute roller coasters can’t believe I am 450 pages into a book and still absolutely addicted to it and not over it. Usually books this long are a struggle to finish, but not this one 🤩

So far I am really enjoying this. Of course my favourite character is the sassy gargoyle sidekick what a fun character to have in this book!

possibly will be my fav book ever.
The FMC is hilariously relatable I find myself actually laughing and she doesn’t take herself too seriously.

This book is perfectly balanced between a high fantasy epic, slow burn story while also including little comments making fun of such tropes eg “we will train. Be ready at dawn” what was it with the Turans and dawn? Something always seemed to be happening at dawn”

“I’d spent twenty-three years taking orders from men who thought they could dictate my every move” —-> “ “thank you for saving my life” someday, if I had the chance, I’d repay that favour by taking his”

This is one of the best FMC of all time in my opinion, up to chapter 12 and I have laughed, cried and held my breath. Not mad that this book is so long! I am totally immersed within this world

Wow does this author have a way with words, I can’t quite articulate how this writing and story telling makes me feel, like magic. Like something that doesn’t feel possible and is inconceivable. I don’t understand how a fellow human mind can create this and I gave up trying instead, just allowing it to be and appreciating it for the unique beauty that it is

Up to chapter 5 and Devney Perry is not stuffing around I can’t believe I am less than 40 pages into this MAMMOTH book and I have already laughed out load and audibly gasped!

We have a free spirited, Curly red head who does her own thing thrown into another different forced marriage from the one she was already in?! The writing is so well done and makes me genuinely laugh 😆

Just finished chapter one and I can tell this is going to be so fucking good.
We literally start on a cliff hanger 👏 there’s world building, there’s politics and there’s a funny/genuine FMC…. Can’t wait to see where this goes!

So far 50 pages in, it holds up to the standard of the last book which I love. No obvious second book decline.
Beautiful story telling and writing style.

This is incredible! At the start I was abit shocked at the writing, very sci-fi/poetry style and feels abit like another language.

When I stopped forcing myself to try and make sense of every word and instead, let the words go over me I actually understood it and so far I am absolutely invested in the story.

So good! The story telling is the perfect level of deep enough I feel connected to the story while also being able to read it without needing to be 100% switched on. It’s a nice wind down book for me.

Hit the ward running! I hear reviews that this book introduces too many characters too soon. As someone who works and studies within healthcare and nursing, this makes so much sense to me. And the quick introduction of multiple patients, their stories and conditions makes me feel like I am really in the story! It reflects real world experience of working in the clinical space.

Only up to track 15 on the audio book…. Absolutely gripped so far! Loving the writing style and mystery. So many twists and turns already. There’s the perfect amount of suspense to reveal ratio I feel like I get lots of regular mini reveals instead of saving them all for the second half of the book.
