While the book so far is mostly describing the writers christian upbringing, i’m very very entertained. And we now get to meet Melanie (who’s named after a melon cuz she looked like one at birth).
Also, the unintentionally hilarious mother thought she had fallen in love but it turned out to be a stomach ulcer. I can’t make this up.

The mother is hilarious to me. She complains about Next Door fornicating and then performs a biblical hymn about Dark Passions by singing/shouting at the wall while sending her kid out to get ice cream.
Also got to enjoy a short story about a prince and a goose and their debate about perfection and flawlessness. I’m entertained.

a LOT of names and biblical terms so slightly more difficult to get through. but the next chapters awaits :)

eating oranges while reading the book as the main character is also eating oranges is top tier. most memorable quote: Oranges are the only fruit.

such an exciting start! already laughed out loud multiple times. most memorable line so far:
“I don’t know why we kept the parchment. We had thought it was a bit of the Old Testament but it was the lease to a sheep farm.”
