I’m teetering between “this is a gorgeous exploration of the human psyche in its Sisyphean struggle to live” and “this is thinly veiled tragedy porn built on a foundation of one dimensional caricatures and tropes masking itself as the aforementioned exploration”…. Halfway through so too soon to tell which way it falls

So far quite enjoying the story, totally different than I expected but I understand the Netflix series was a different take on the story

I cannot express how incredibly touched I am by this book, mirroring the feelings I’ve felt in my own adoption experience to such incredible accuracy I feel inclined to reach out to the author for her adroit mastery at conveying such a niche (or perhaps more common?) experience. Only half through this book but I cannot put it down.

So far this is the first book I've read in the past two years to make me openly weep. Absolutely beautiful and tremendously tragic. With the backdrop of Islamaphobia so aggressively at the forefront of global politics today, this story strikes a tremendously poignant note.

Great so far but probably would be better in more visual lecture format given that’s its origin

Absolutely worth the read so far, I can absolutely see why this is a global literary classic. Magical realism abound and engrossing, engaging story at this point
