A book is better read when you disassociate yourself from any character, but Dostoyevsky constructs his novels in such a way as to make that impossible. All characters are structured to be relatable, which forces you to look deep down inside yourself. I relate to Rodya as I related to Alyosha Karamazov, despite my best efforts not to, which is horrifying as much as it is thought-provoking.

Hay unas cosas que se llaman capítulos, pero no hay en este libro de 400 y más páginas.

There is a thing called chapters, but there aren't any in this book of 400 and more pages.

Very mentally fulfilling. I am responsible for everyone, as everyone else is responsible for everyone else.

At times very frustrating, and it's hard not to roll my eyes at some of the character assassinations he throws. However, to understand his interpretation of the state is an obligation to any activist, political science, or anyone wanting to bring change in the world, regardless if you like his character or not (as of lately, I find it hard to defend him, though I'm against those who without mercy defame his name).

My first glimpse of the flat black stretches of Chicago depressed and dismayed me,
mocked all my fantasies. Chicago seemed an unreal city whose mythical houses
were built of slabs of black coal wreathed in palls of gray smoke, houses whose
foundations were sinking slowly into the dank prairie. Flashes of steam showed
intermittently on the wide horizon, gleaming translucently in the winter sun.

Feel as if I'm reading some neo-liberal propaganda from The Economist.

So far very good. Kind of dissapointed it has not talked about Huyusani or Nazi collaboration, but it nonetheless does good that this would not be accepted if it happened today.

If you want to get a picture of early America, this is a great book so far. It's also good to see the thougts of the time, but I believe they are no longer applicable today. This was a time without a proletariat class, and America went through a state with one. I also don't believe in much of Tocqueville's views.

It's a bunch of aristocratic, orientalist slob. This is going to be 800 pages of hell.
