This book is a must read for everyone. There have been many, many excellent works written on the status of women in the world but few have been as accessible and wide rani going as this one. My notebook is filling up with quotes and reflections and I can't wait to review.

After reading the introduction and first story I already know I will enjoy this book. What is it with our fascination with other peoples private lives?

The writing is inspired.

Harrow's mastery of vocabulary is impressive and the way she uses it to express the most complex of emotional experiences strikes me through with awe.

Have looked forward to reading this since it was featured on ABC's Tuesday Night Book Club. As first I found the narrative style hard going - a little choppy, overdone and heavy on commas. Now, half way through the book, the writing has smoothed out to become compelling and disturbing.

I already love this. From the first glorious sentence the style of this novel grabbed me.
