I swearrr every book I’ve read these past few days has the SAME scene. They kiss, make out, then go, ‘Let’s pretend it didn’t happen and just stay friends.’ Like… be serious. We all know that’s not gonna work out.

“I mean it,” Carol says, absentmindedly clapping my best friend’s back. “You were sad with Tracy for years. And she was awful—”

“Hey, that’s the mother of my children.”

I like Cliff a lot. He’s nice, kind, hot, and genuinely a good person. But this scene? Yeah… it made him ten times hotter. The way he doesn’t let anyone disrespect his ex, especially since she’s the mother of his kids? Instant upgrade. 100x hotter.

“He’s a loser,” Cliff repeats, moving back to kneading dough. “Why else would he cheat on you? You’re stunning.” My heart skips as I stammer, “Wh-what?” “That’s not an opinion. That’s a fact. You are. Even when you scowl at me.”

At first I think that’s the sound of my heart breaking. Then I realize my palm pitched back and collided with Allen’s cheek.
I gasp. I can’t breathe.
Allen blinks at me as my pink handprint slowly takes shape on his face.
Still as stone, he breathes, “You deserve to be alone.”

I jumped straight into Book Lovers the moment I finished Funny Story, and I won’t lie, the first few pages took a second to settle in. But after two or three chapters? Something just clicked. And when it clicked, it CLICKED. This book has me smiling, kicking my feet, and emotionally invested in the best way possible. Emily Henry really did not come to play with this one.

Okay but be so serious right now, how do you say “I don’t wanna mess this up” after making out on the couch? Like hello, the damage is already done. And not just a normal makeout, a HOT HOT HOT one. How do you go from that to being just friends because I genuinely do not understand the logic. I’m so invested in this story. This is my first Emily Henry book and I fully get the hype now.

You’ve got to be kidding me, LMFAOO. I actually laughed out loud reading that line. It was SO awkward like he clearly wanted to compliment her, but the way it came out was just… I was dying of secondhand embarrassment and laughter at the same time.

This book was shockingly good. Honestly, five stars don’t even feel enough. Goodreads need to stop gatekeeping because I did not expect it to hit this hard. Why was it this good? The writing, the emotions, the whole experience everything just worked. It’s one of those books I wish I could erase from my memory just so I could read it again for the first time. Absolutely incredible.

If betrayal could take the shape of a book, it would, without a doubt, be this one. It pulled me in, earned my trust, and then shattered me so completely that I’m still sitting here wondering how ink and paper managed to hurt this much.

I AM LOSING MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!

I’m actually losing my mind. That chapter was sweet, devastating, and way too perfect for my sanity. I have exactly 20% left and I’m about to speed-read like my life depends on it. Chloe Gong just gets romance , she writes couples with so much feeling that it physically hurts. I’m terrified for what’s coming next, but I have to know. I HAVE to know.
