There is quite a lot of world building snd explaining the structure of the imagined fall into totalitarianism. It continues to become more engaging and I think it took about the first 100 pages to start feeling that but now it’s really taking off.

Kind of feels like a climate knock off of Handmaids Tale so far. Definitely some sapphic elements

Similarities between world fair and how Disney and Epcot are like today

Nauseating evil in some chapters , in others, architecture plans.

There is a dichotomy between the evil, and nauseating things that H H Holmes is doing during the years leading up to the world fair, and that of the architects who designed it. Architects like Olmsted and Bernham wanted to put Chicago on the map, while this man was working in the background to make it his personally playground of evil. It makes me sick how easy he is getting away with disappearing so many women.
