Final section, made up of very short writings. Sort of reminds me of Proverbs. This section emphasizes living righteously and being charitable.

Lays down rules for befriending non-Muslims (can’t be with enemies of Islam, but can with those who don’t fight Muslims), and rules to follow within families, women’s rights.

This is the furthest I’ve gotten through LoTR!

Yeah, there’s no way Tom Bombadil would have worked in the movies. A flashily-dressed man with deep knowledge of nature, vague powers over creatures, and is also seemingly immune to the One Ring shows up near the start of the journey? Lmao.

He and Goldberry are precious tho.

Explains significance of star and moon as Islamic symbols; Sirius = divine proof, of Prophet Muhammad’s heavenly ascension. Muhammad split the moon to prove to the Quraysh (who controlled Mecca) that Islam is the true faith.

Ch 56 afterlife rewards and punishments.

Ch 57 importance of charity, which ultimately leads to greater reward.
57:20 “…this world’s life is naught but a source of vanity.”

Call to arms (context: before a battle against persecution). Allah will guide believers to victory, they will be rewarded. Calls for sacrifice for the cause; Many lines involve deeds being rewarded or voided, based on one’s beliefs.

Enemies to be fought until they can’t persecute any more. Captives to be taken and released.

Can’t share my thoughts within limit. Must study further.

My third and final attempt at this tome. I’ve read books just as long and much drier in the past couple of years; the section I read this blizzardy day was a palate cleanser.

O believers! Do not enter the homes of the Prophet without permission and if invited for a meal, do not come too early and linger until the meal is ready. But if you are invited, then enter on time. Once you have eaten, then go on your way, and do not stay for casual talk. Such behaviour is truly annoying to the Prophet, yet he is too shy to ask you to leave. But Allah is never shy of the truth.
