As a woman, reading the way Houellebecq wrote this book shocks and frightens me. Yes, the story is “supposed” to make fun of characters like Bruno, but I honestly think that lens is bullshit. Through his writing, Houellebecq shows time and time again that he IS the characters he writes. There is no female character in this story who are described without their breast size; women are frequently described as slurs
