Celine is great it's a lot of fun pretending to write like him because his style is so goddamn distinctive.

Yes, it's a biography but it also acts as a study guide for his work and connecting them together with his real life experience. Recommended if you're familiar with all his major works.

Re-reading after 15 years. A masterpiece. What is up with the dogshit cover Goodreads uses? Tolstoy would be rolling in his grave you materialistic, Hollywood shitheads.

Almost there. I know it's doubtful but in a perfect world, Littell would do a parallel novella about Weser and Clemens. They're two of the only decent human beings shown in this book. Their investigative skills are phenomenal and they don't lose steam no matter how many doors are shut in their face. due to the bleak concept of the novel, their good constantly being snuffed out is symbolism. They deserved better.

What an ugly unsettling read thus far. A+. That two star review on the front page is respectable but the ass kissing comments were gross. I hope I love this book purely out of spite to that review/comments. “I was waiting for your review of this”? Since when were reviewers rock stars? 🤮 come on.
