Dit boek maakte veel indruk op me als kind. Ik heb het vorig jaar gekocht maar heb het uitgesteld ermee te beginnen. Wat is het zielig! Wat is Steffi dapper!

I am loving this so much more than I expected. Brontë is so good at describing social interactions, in a way it makes me think of Sally Rooney. I'm also totally invested in Lucy Snowe, I know she is an unreliable narrator but that's it so I'm very curious as to what will still be revealed about her and what is going to happen between her and M. Paul! Also, was she in love with Dr. John or was that never the idea?

Last Brontë novel I have not yet read, excluding the Professor. In this work, Charlotte is back at the theme of young woman thrown upon the world, having to find her path. I quite like it, especially how Charlotte discusses the practicalities Lucy has to deal with, the watermen, her suitcase, Brussels (sorry, Villette) in the dark.

OK this is full of clichés (sad, feeble bookish girl somehow turns out to be a great dragon warrior while hot normally unattainable man falls for her) BUT AM I ENJOYING THIS 🤣🤣

Anne Bronte moet even in de ijskast want ik kon het boek niet meer verlengen. Deze meegenomen. Vond deel 2 zeer goed dus benieuwd naar deel 1.

Having read Women of Troy by Pat Barker and it's brilliant inversion of perspective it's actually hard to take this retelling seriously. Briseis "saved" by Patroclus and Achilles? Please.
Also, I'm a little bored.

Enjoyable so far but to quote Persuasion (2022) (which I actually quite liked contrary to popular opinion): 'Anne, that's more than enough poetry. You know how I detest metaphor.'

Let's see if it lives up to the hype. Been on my list for a long time but it was always on loan.

I love spy movies but somehow never tried a spy novel.
