Interesting, but a little more history and description of the places like Wintanceaster (Winchester) wouldn’t go amiss to my mind. One shield wall becomes much like another as the various battles ensue.

Graham Dugan is reading Stranger in a Strange Land
I must have read this many, many years ago. But when I saw that this version was the original manuscript before the publishers back then demanded cuts because some of the writing would be shocking, I had to read it.. About a third of the way into it and strangely modern, especially a reference to degrees now being meaningless, because everyone gets one. That made me smile.
