I am absolutely raging today and this shit book isnt helping. You might ask (as my girlfriend has) why not stop reading? Because I have a book goal to meet and an ever-shrinking hope that maybe this will turn around (it won't)

Something about Jorge's lines constantly ending in "muchacho" or "hermano" and the accents in the audiobook reads somewhat racist to me

Started listening at 1.4x speed because I need this to be over sooner. Not in a good way lol

This book is written really poorly. Really poorly. Things are often repeated multiple times for dramatic effect, and Thomas is always sleeping. Really, always sleeping. It really is unfortunate. So unfortunate.

Seriously, that's how this book is written. I'm sure the writing was just as bad in the Maze Runner, but I was so intrigued by the story that it didn't bother me.

Besides the bodies hanging from the ceiling, I can't remember a single thing from when I first read this. 22% in, I understand why.

I fear that discovering this entire series is available on libby in audiobook format is going to ruin my life for a while

I enjoy the Louisiana setting in movies, shows, books and this is no exception. I just always try to read this one before bed, and I'm so exhausted by the end of the day that I only make it a few pages at a time.
