getting harder and harder to put this book down ngl

the humor is kinda cringe but otherwise pretty good so far

learning, cringing, thinking critically

very important context/history here so far, especially interesting to learn about black-jewish white solidarity during jim crow/civil rights era and how that was impacted by anti-zionist stances

neurology is genuinely so interesting, love how he presents cases but also some of the chapters are a lil drawn out

whew chile… a difficult read

long but so good

if barbara kingsolver has no fans that means i have left this earth

to say this book is packed with information is an understatement … historians are so under appreciated

finally got back to reading this and yeah… this is truly my favorite author rn i’m obsessed with his ability to weave history, clinical cases and basic science into such fascinating chapters…. can’t wait to finish

very tough read so far but very powerful and beautifully written. this is why i love historical fiction !!!

okay i still love this book tbh it is SO informative, however i didn’t like how one of his stories on saving a lung transplant patient having a STEMI was giving “wasted organ”, “who deserves what quality of care” vibes…. also his reference to “the sick role” as being a “free pass” in working society w/o providing ablest, capitalist context gave me the ick. we’ll see if the ick grows stronger!

this book was not hitting fr until i finished chapter 2 and now i’m intrigued …

in love w this book right now, warraich is such an amazing storyteller

chugging away, i’m only able to read like 20 mins at a time in the bus but it’s pretty good so far

i’m just playing odi i’ve been paying attention and mr polllan is eating (no pun intended)

very insightful read, i’m excited to see if action items for the proposition of universal care will be explored

this as far as i’m gonna get w this book, is all i have to say …

30% of this book so far has been the author listing how rich the characters are and why 😴
