Really enjoying this one, probably the best prose of anything I’ve read so far in 2026. Behemoth of a book though, still many hundreds of pages to go

This book is so sensory. Of course a novel that centers food has to be, but this one highlights elements of smellscape most books ignore.

Gibson doesn’t tell you much. A lot of the world building is on the fly as things happen. Show don’t tell taken to its logical extreme (and it’s kinda fun)

This part was probably written with Gosling in mind. The protagonist reads like a character in the Nice Guys
