Ah, the story has come together! I am enjoying my time here, but man, oh man, is there so much slice-of-life stuff in between. The plot advances are sprinkled in between dozens of pages about teen angst. The drama of the kissing song, and college really takes up the majority of this book. I wouldn’t mind so much, but the characters spend way too much time thinking about their conflicts and not talking about it.

So, I have enjoyed this book so far. Much to go. I think it’s worthwhile to note that if you are in this for an all-encompassing mystery adventure, you have the wrong book. This book isn’t about one specific conflict. Instead, the main conflict is entangled in all of their various lives. Characters get introduced and their perspectives all add life to this piece, instead of further answering the question.

Ayeee finally things are occurring! Lots of things. The slice of life is giving way to some story beats.

I’m not sure how to feel about this book so far. The writing is intriguing. In terms of plot, there is a lot of poetic meandering in which we are touching upon their lives, rather than following beat-by-beat developments. I am hoping to continue and will update my actual page count soon. I just hope this writing style is able to lend itself favorably to plot tension.

Not only did I lose my progress I lost the hold 🥲 feels a bit denser than what I’m used to but nonetheless thought provoking and poignant. Excited to get back to

Very gothic I will say that

I’m such a fan of gothic gloomy fables man I am going to be so sad when this story completes

Very dramatic, enthralling writing. The prose is quite mordant and curious so far

Inara is soooo annoying to Skedi in this one he did one thing in the LAST BOOK and here we are still using that as an excuse

I’m done. I hate this. This was described as a “addictive, high octane triumph, an imaginative tour de force about one woman’s tireless desire to be free”
No. It’s depressing. A lot of set up for ultimate tragedy that really just ends up with a lesser tragedy. If the blurb didn’t set me up for an addictive thriller, maybe my thoughts would be different.

Hm. I’m done. I really don’t know how to sum up my feelings for now. The writing is great. The characters are all terrible, intentionally so. Extremely unreliable. And yet, the plot itself is so confusing, I feel like it lost a bit of that motion, the speed in which it had. While I like how open-ended the book was, a bit more direction/ magical explanation might’ve helped overall.

Lots of attention needed

I finished this book. And something that really aggravates me is that it describes Rachel as a fighter and a survivor in the blurb. YET there were so many moments where she does not escape? And here’s the thing: I feel like people who survive do whatever they can, they take the next exit, they make the risk, etc. idk. Character study is ok. Will sit with thoughts.

I can’t stop crying I know I keep sounding like a broken record but I am besides my tears, heart in hand
