This is my first novel by Jamaica Kincaid. I opened the book and I immediately knew this will be an emotional ride. The prose struck me just as much as Alice Walker’s did when I first read The color purple

I wish I hadn’t dived so deep into the historical context of TPW because now the series is just plain depressing to me. Riveting but I also feel hopeless and sad while reading

I’m traumatized by how good this saga is. I can’t read because i don’t wanna be stopped by work, the need of sleep, academics…this is f torture

i’m so fcking obsessed, I feel like I’m back as a reader or something…it’s been ages since I’ve been this invested in a saga!

There are some protagonists that just make you feel ashamed of lying on your bed while reading a novel. As I lay here (with the flu!) in the bed in question, I’ve just grabbed my comp, turned it on and tried to figure out (yet again in the span of this year) what the hell I’m doing with life.
