not to be that person who reads goodreads reviews before finishing a book, but one reviewer praised goh's historical account of the citrus genus and then went on to acknowledge her attempt at metaphorizing her family history through the orange, and that "[t]his is much less interesting than the orange." who knew there were comedians lurking in the goodreads review section??

i have Thoughts

christopher clarey is a williams alum, and i as a self-proclaimed novice tennis fan and self-proclaimed journalist sent off a silly little email. it's always nerve-wracking interviewing other people who Do Journalism, but especially the ones who do it for a living—christopher was very kind, even after i told him that i hadn't actually read the book i was interviewing him about. so 3 years later, here i am reading it.
