I just realized this is in fact NOT the second book in the series, as i originally thought. Whoops

Very close to dnf-ing atp. The exploration of themes/characters honestly feels so shallow/dissatisfying… :( is this YA? Was this meant for adults??

I’ve had this one on my list for a few years and unfortunately feeling disappointed so far! For a pretty crazy premise it feels like we’re not exploiting the full potential of the world or characters. Prose is also not doing it many favors either :( hoping it gets crazier!!

I cried

Like a medieval The Last of Us: apocalyptic setting, grizzled soldier and the special girl he’s begrudgingly come to protect…but at the same time seriously so much more. It’s already been so wild in the first QUARTER, cant wait to see where things go

Not my usual fare but for book club!

Thought I would love this, started reading and initial impression was that it’d be a rough read, now we’re somewhere in between! There’s this interesting feeling that i’m looking at the ancestor of many other things I really like/read this year! (piranesi, house of leaves etc)
