I’ve actually never had a bigger crush on a fictional character in my whole life. Which is saying something

I saw the movie. Fell into a hopeless infatuation with Ryland Grace. Just as I suspected, the infatuation grows worse by being able to read his inner dialogue.

I put this one down for a while because I find the female lead SO insufferably whiny and self deprecating. But of course I pick it back up and get to the absolute searing tension that Hazelwood always delivers. And I can’t look away

Madison Doss is on page 71 of 288 of The Courage to Be Disliked: How to Free Yourself, Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness
all problems we face can be diffused by changing our subjective perspectives, letting go of the fear of being hurt. accepting current circumstance, appreciating the blessings you already have, finding the bravery to face change

this reminds me of how annoying I find people who are desperate to feel superior. As if it will make them feel better about their self loathing when in reality, it’s their own doing.

Dostoyevsky does a marvelous job at making you absolutely loathe a character. A Gentle Creature truly had my blood boiling reading from the perspective of a narcissistic man who psychologically destroyed his—far too young—bride all for the sake of stroking his ego.
