When I say that this book is cinematic, I’m not just referring to the lyrical prose, brisk pacing, and non-linear plot. More than that, the author ever-so-subtly pulls you into a story in a way that is so masterful that it seems simple, the way that a really well done film can seem simple. Doerr disappears in his often very very beautiful words.

Finished part one (why does a book so short have parts?)

I’m reading too many difficult books at the moment, so I chose this as a more leisurely read. So far so good!
