Started strong but lost my interest a little after about 3/4, though I’m glad I read it.

Honest, perhaps a bit limited in scope to protect her family. She’s a lot smarter than people give her credit for and I think her work advocating for residential treatment reform is remarkable.

DNF. Might try again, but this is some big time heteronormative, blame-the-mother (and the iPad) nonsense.

Their premise can be reduced to a paragraph: kids need to orient themselves to their parents rather than their peers. It won’t solve your parenting problems, but it’ll offer a better foundation for the tough times.

Read something by Mona Delahooke, Dan Siegel, or Bruce Perry, instead.

Whomever published and edited this should be ASHAMED. The writing is flaming garbage. Everyone involved should be sent to garbage island to think about what they’ve done.

WHEW, the way this dude views women and portrays them in the book. He may well be on to something with the physiologic effects of cold exposure, but it’s hard to extract that from the crap.

He oversteps in myriad ways in discussing his ex-wife and her suicide. Holy unresolved trauma, Batman. Take a cold shower and then call a therapist, Wim.

LORD, did an editor even touch this?

For someone claiming to be so evolved and nonviolent, including the story of the Ted Cross volunteers picking human flesh out of some bushes that is wholly tangential and irrelevant is an odd choice. It only serves to share his unresolved trauma, thereby traumatizing the unsuspecting reader. That bit was immaterial to this book.

His recounting of various paid gigs to which he just shows up, admittedly unprepared, and rolls with it...I don’t know. He tries to play of off as a nod to the fruit of deeply attuning to intuition. In reality, I’m guessing he’s just a combination of likable, charming, & lucky.

There’s a lot of “trust me!” and “even the skeptics admit...” right alongside “this is SCIENCE” and “there’s so much evidence.” 🤷‍♀️

I am in agreement with several tenets of the Montessori theory presented here, but the author’s sanctimony and condescension block any usefulness this book might present. Find a less judgmental source.
