I appreciate how unfiltered this book is, and therefore how uncomfortable it makes me at points. It has a disturbing beauty to it, with some of the internal dialogue that goes on, and the dynamic especially between Margot and Mama so far is so good

Back to reading again!! Been so busy, it feels like ages since I read this.

In other news, that volcano was amazing!!! Maybe could’ve been sold as a bit more terrifying but it really helped counter the explosive heist of the water tank, which also felt it happened a bit quickly

Effie!!! The absolute fashion goat coming in clutch, though it’s interesting seeing her buy into the Capital propaganda, I forget at what point she breaks out of it, possibly between Hunger Games and Catching Fire. Her first interaction with Haymitch has a lot of weight to it considering their dynamic in the future

I love Plutarch’s intelligence, continues to become one of the best characters in the series because of how he can manoeuvre and influence things. Drusilla is definitely a character, but I find she has some unintentionally funny lines

The whip does not touch them because to flinch is to obey!! When you fear a tool, you’re pliable to do the bidding of the wielder in fear of it being used on you
