Okay, it's becoming a little repetitive. I wish I had known this was middle-grade because there isn't really a deep dive on any specific concept, but rather a retelling of the chain of events following the Tamboura eruption

I'm loving all the different character voices!

Fascinating so far! I had no idea that an Indonesian volcanic eruption in the nineteenth century had such a large impact on the world at large

oh gosh I just know this is gonna make me bawl me eyes out. It's already hitting too close to home

a little rushed but hopefully the ending is worth it. also had no idea there was queer rep in it so that's a nice surprise!!

Okay I'm invested. I was a little cynical of where this story was going at the beginning, but it's safe to say that I'm enjoying the direction it's taking now

the movie was excellent but the book is so badly written? I can't believe it won awards the prose reads like a middle-grade novel with scientific info dumps. I'm actually considering dnfing which is so sad because I wanted to love this as much the movie 😭

I really enjoyed part 1, but I'm not sure what to think of part 2. we'll see what part 3 brings

So far, a pretty solid start. I'm enjoying this a lot more than the first novel.
