Does anybody else have this weird thing happening on goodreads where it brings out ages old reviews and pretends they are new? Just me? Cool o.o"

Picked this up for a book club buddy read and while you can tell it's inspired by Jessica's own experiences as an SM trainee and artist, it often feels like she tells her story and then an editor decided "Okay, but let's add so much drama that it feels super unrealistic". Or maybe the conversation went more like- Editor: "Add drama!", Jessica: "how much?", Editor: "Yes!"

I love how it seems like I have added a completely random pile of Maurice LeBlancs Arsène Lupin books to my "to-read" shelf. No worries, friends, I know what I'm doing. "Unfortunately" my French editions include several of the books in one edition :')

You could think I‘m not enjoying this considering how long it takes me to read this, but it‘s the opposite! The writing is so beautiful that I don’t pick it up whenever I‘m too tired to fully suck up all of it ;;

Even though it's a graphic novel, it so far has offered such a deep insight into Vietnams history and what it meant for Thi Bui's parents growing up in a war torn country (&how that+their own backgrounds shaped their personalities), but also what it meant for Thi Bui herself. Super impressed by this read!

It always takes me a moment to pick this up again, but once I do I'm having a great time with this. It is a slow burn romance for sure. It did take 100 pages to get to the point described in the blurb after all ^^'

Really got sucked into this story and world building ** I now understand why everybody is praising Sanderson so much! Started to alternate between the audiobook and physical book just so that I can spend more time reading this <3

I love how the stories connect so nicely. Reading this a second time it's even more obvious and it's wonderful :)

At the beginning I thought this was really interesting, but I'm already losing interest, but I also know that I won't pick this up a 2nd time if I put it down now. Does this actually have to be 933 pages long? ^^'

The only parts I like so far are the novel in the novel... which, thankfully, is half the novel. The rest could be shortened by a lot.

Not to repeat what everybody else said in the reviews, but... the homophobic portrayal of gay characters... wow. It didn't feel this extreme in the first book =|

This is so good and addictive! Why did I think the dark academia subgenre could possibly not be my thing :O
