Very funny— great voice. Really poignant satire in the age of Nick Fuentes and all those weird, lowkey gay misogynists.

Reading this in middle english is intense. I've found the text engaging enough to help me work through the text, and the scholarship and contexts are fascinating. So far, "The Miller's Tale" has been the standout.

Part 4 - 10/10. Relished every page.

Part 5 - 7/10. The dinner exposition was pretty monotonous, but the payoff was really good. I have mixed feelings about Sonya and Raskolnikov's meeting. I may need to spend more time on it.

Correction— probably 3 stars for chapter 1 and two.

Part 1 - 4 stars. Great premise and Raskolnikov’s mental state is tangible. The murder is a fantastic scene.

Part 2 - 4 stars. There’s a boring stretch but seeing Raskolnikov’s mind play out in the world— a synthesizing philosophy and his deranged wit.

Part 3 - 4.5 stars. Raskolnikov’s family drama is very compelling. The ordinary men philosophical smack down with Porfiry is the highlight so far.
