My first King book 👀 I was inspired by watching the new Carrie series. I’m enjoying so far! Great characters… hope nothing happens to them…

Update: they only made EVEN DUMBER decisions. I’m torn between hoping they all pull it together and hoping Malta has an entertaining downfall.

I do feel that everything wrong with Malta is a result of poor parenting though. She’s the worst behaved child I’ve ever read but she mostly just wants to be seen. I love Ronica but she just can’t seem to just communicate with her family for some reason.

I need at least one character to make a smart decision real soon

This book is SLOW and it is LONG. Tell me how I’ve put in TWENTY FOUR HOURS of reading time and I have a full third left?? It also doesn’t NEED to be this long. I’ve read 1200 page books that I’ve flown through but this 900 page book is d r a g g i n g.

The story is good and the characters are great but the editor should have been MUCH more aggressive.

I love Wintrow so much. He’s just like me fr. Also hilarious that Kyle is named Kyle. It’s so fitting

Paragon is my new favorite character. I had to look up fan art because I just KNOW he’s hot. Sentient ship figurehead? He MUST be. 😂

Robin Hobb has this amazing ability to create protagonists that make terrible decisions and piss me off yet are so damn likable. I keep just hoping Althea will just make a good choice 😭

A very slow start with too many POVs imo. Im trying to trust Robin Hobb here and stick with it

A rabbit hole of interest has pulled me away from my regularly scheduled fiction reading.

So far a really approachable crash course on feng shui! I love all of the examples and diagrams; they make it feel so intuitive!

I tried 😭 Started this one because my lovely cousin started it but I couldn’t do it. The writing is so bad and the main character is such a Mary Sue that it’s physically painful. The way they talk about her body is also super uncomfortable.

I’m gonna follow Vanessa’s lead on this one and also dnf

The ending was good. I’ll always give that to Brandon ig. Idk… for a book about defying the boxes that society puts you in, the fmc ends up with an old man and not a woman? No one at all is queer? Its just so oddly mormon

The twist is good, everything is mostly fine

Still my least favorite Sanderson book so far. It’s SO mormon, especially how they talk about modesty. I also still find the tone to be mean-spirited. The magic system is also spread too thin imo; I have no investment in demons/ hexers/ witches really at all

This might be the most mormon book Brandon has ever written 😭 what is happening right now?? I’m so uncomfortable with how he writes about “seduction”

Brandon, you’re gonna have to win me back after part 1. I was not a big fan of how topics like disability, domestic violence, and classism were handled in part 1. Felt elitist, felt mean-spirited, felt icky, felt written by a man. No mention of a sensitivity reader in the acknowledgments.

Characters are fun, premise is strong. Hopefully it gets better

I’m rereading my favorite childhood series because I need the nostalgia and whimsy and joy back in my life rn. I’m having a great time so far!

It’s funny how much I remember 15 years later. The littlest details will spark memories of big plot events that haven’t happened yet.

Going from adult sci-fi horror to YA sci-fi fantasy requires recalibration but I’m enjoying it now 😂

I’m fully team alien. Their ideology honestly seems pretty cool and chill and humanity has NOT done much to endear themselves to me (in the story but also irl).

Its SO cool to be in the POV of the aliens. I’m totally sucked in. Is it bad that I’m rooting for the alien invasion??

Mira Grant’s sci-fi horror is always SO COOL to read as a biologist. All of her little details are so on point and really bring her monsters to life. They’re so elegant and organic and it makes them all the creepier!

I also feel like Grant’s style in this book is especially polished, and all of her characters are so vibrant and tangible.

This hooked me SO QUICK. I love the idea of her compulsively confessing that she is an alien and the invasion is coming to everyone and no one believing it. Classic.

Also the writing is just lovely and so engaging

I’ve never had a protagonist piss me off so much while still remaining likable. Every thing he does is wrong and irritating but somehow I’m so attached to him and want him to succeed
