No like it’s cool I just didn’t expect it to be clones

A bit of a slow start. I don’t know if I’m just out of my art game, but I am finding the art descriptors pretentious, but in a way that I feel Huang might be commenting on or exaggerating for the sake of characterization. Not sure yet. Still early days babes. Loving the line-level artistry, so many passages I just adore.

“As we drove away from the car-wash, the rollers dripped silently in the darkness. Around the car an immense pool of white bubbles subsided into the wet concrete.” AFTER ALL THAT. Bro…BRO. Maybe the best chapter yet. Somehow, with the INTENSE and pervasive eroticism of this novel, this somehow feels like the first true “sex scene”. I don’t know how that’s possible.

“This small space was crowded with angular control surfaces and rounded sections of human bodies interacting in unfamiliar junctions, like the first act of homosexual intercourse inside an Apollo capsule.”

Honestly gas.

This book feels like skipping. Not in subject matter, in prose. The constant set up and knock down of reference and joke and puzzle is so consistently gratifying. The Wax Seal/Whacked Seal chapter is a personal favorite. Just live it
