I'm not having a bad time with the book, but the dropped storylines do rankle me.

A spectacular example of how not to plot a book.
Fantastic set pieces.
Great characters.
Zero reason for the story to happen. The whole zombie horde could have simply gone AROUND the damn castle and nothing would have been lost.

Lifts liberally from Harry Potter, but my 6yo is loving the ride so far. Can't fault the book, especially as it's so hard to find translated fantasy fit for his age.

I'm having a roar with this audiobook. My first ever Abercrombie and I'm loving the trip.

Part 1 was a slog to get through, but the book's picking up in Part 2 and is actually interesting in Part 3.
