The first delightfully-predictable (really, it was a good thing!) gothic story from Doyle put a smile on my face. I can’t wait to read what comes next.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of, much less read, J. California Cooper before. This is beautiful, epic stuff!

This is such an enjoyable read. It’s like hanging out talking stuff with a good friend. Rachel’s good company.

Griffin did not come to play with y'all! Chapter 3, "Black Freedom and the Idea(l) of America" is pure FIRE. Literary criticism at its finest.

I can’t believe how enthralling this is. The audiobook (read by the author) is wonderful.

I don’t know what exactly is going on in this book but I’m along for the ride. And enjoying it (to the extent that a person can “enjoy” spending time in such a terrible world).

“Voodoo Vincent and the Astrostoriograms” by Tyehimba Jess is one of the dopest, most fun stories I’ve read in a long while. The dialogue is pure spoken-word poetry. Which, no surprise since Jess is actually a poet. If you have the chance, do yourself a favor and read this story about Voodoo Vincent and his fateful encounter with LegBaby.

This is phenomenal writing. Just, *chef’s kiss*! It’s been years since I’ve read literary criticism this juicy.

I had to read a romance after that hard, hard chapter about Samuel Pritchard. Anything to repair my heart, broken by Jeffers several times over.
