Talking about philosophies within their historical context is really such a good way to introduce them. Abstract discussions make a lot more sense when you know what kind of things they were a reaction to and what events they were influenced by. Nothing exists in a vacuum.

Hmm, the description of racism in the US versus racism in Europe in the 1940s seemed simplistic and too pro-European. Just because there was no segregation in Europe doesn't mean that things were good.
