the first half of the book felt so pointless. at least were in the “action” now if you could even call it that. but also why did jasper jeed to rephrase the same conversation three times for five pages? and half the book is introduction and appendixes from other authors dissecting the book.

the characters in the musical are much more likable than in the book except jasper . he’s more twisted in the musical

so many of these passages seem pointless to the plot if im gonna be honest. just ramblings really. and half the book is appendixes anyways 😭

getting a bit easier to read but really not keeping me engaged for very long at a time. realized it’s not set as a play within the world like the musical and is just the world . also the relationship between rosa and edwin is so different 😭 i didn’t know they hated each other like that i thought they were childhood best friends . and i miss the songs lol

only reading this bc i love the musical and im ngl i might dnf.. writing like this is just not for me..

it’s a great book. so much so that you want it to be a movie. and it is! but it makes me just want to watch the movie hahaha

im nearly half way through and they haven’t even run away yet lol but it is a super easy read and i like how it’s written

genuinely don’t remember who the killer is so i’m excited for the reveal.

read this in college while looking for a scene to audition with for Vintage Hitchcock and been wanting to read it for real in book form not pdf

brooo that chapter in the nothingness was so meta.. jaw dropped. but also… she saw how much pain the existence of the books caused why would she still go and create them??? just to take her own pain away.. but the books are what caused it anyways…

the hints of romantic interest between cassie and drummond are just not well written 😂 like i want them to be interested in each other but “why do i keep thinking about him?” is notttt good 😂 and he’s shown absolutely no interest in her until probably now bc she’s older… i wanted like a forbidden romance friends to lovers she catches herself staring not “his smile” five times…

i do enjoy this book while im reading it i just never pick it up. i think i’m just in a reading slump that has nothing to do with this book

idk what is but something abt this book just isn’t grasping me. hopefully soon it starts to pick up but i’m finding that there’s too much unnecessary visual details. don’t get me wrong i love world building and visualization but it’s over powering the plot driving. here’s my prediction: even tho izzy forgot she’s gonna be kidnapped by hugo or the woman.

have to take a break after that chapter about the woman.. so disturbing.

i can’t believe the woman gave despair to that poor child 😭 “she might not even live to adulthood” wtfff

and not izzy possibly becoming a main character 🙃

this one might take me a while to finish. i can only read like two chapters at a time.. im just not sucked into it yet

i really hate when authors overuse a word not used in normal peoples vocabulary. this time it’s “goddy” . also there’s only 380 pages in my book not 500 something bc it’s not large print 🫡 i’m abt 4/5 done

noooottt liking the colonies just as much as i don’t like the republic. it’s military state or corporate run country …

waiittt i actually think Anden is gonna be a good guy and they’re gonna find out too late and kill him anyway 😫 and obviously June switching sides is gonna cause problems between her and Day but like… they’re kinda jumping the gun with assassination
