This book gives me major Challengers vibes—and I love it. It doesn’t romanticize professional sports or make them look polished—it shows the gritty, messy, behind-the-scenes reality. I was never that into ice dance, but damn, this book has me hooked.

By now, I adore this book. The writing? It gets me. It’s the kind of magic that snapped me right out of my reading slump.

There’s something about Gabrielle’s writing that resonates with me on a deep level. It took me a few pages to fully immerse myself after finishing a gripping fantasy novel, but now I’m completely captivated by this book.

This is a deeply heartbreaking book that makes it hard to understand why anyone would oppose immigrants. These individuals are often fleeing countries where war is at their doorstep—a reality we can hardly begin to imagine. For many, the most painful part is leaving behind their homes and the familiarity of their lives.
