Really hate the "cougar" stereotype. So frickin judgmental. Hate the old woman verbiage, comments like "40 something trying to look 20," "clothes not suitable for a mature woman," "too mature for his tasted." How about just saying she wasn't his type? Why are women over 40 always referred to like this? I detest the horrible ageism that's rampant in romance. Equally poor, "innocent" vibe of much younger woman. Ick.

So far, the FL is hella annoying. We get it, she's SUPER independent. We don't need a reminder at EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION NO MANNER HOW MINOR.

At 13%, I can see this is a disaster. The first few chapters are full of a weird, high schoolish verbal subterfuge by the FL, who is acting like she's a VUA agent who can't give up the details. She then spends a seriously hot night with the ML. Sadly, we get no info on that other than being told it was hot. Super crappy writing. Then she meets him again 9 days later and thinks he may look a little familiar. A guy who

I like this writer a lot. This book has some weird issues that turn me off. Ex--for a super smart bunch of X SEALS, they make some not smart mistakes. Like going places without vackup REPEATEDLY after things go wrong. Also, the swx is smokin hot, no doubt. But there's a make-up scene in the house of a recently dead corpse. Wow.

This is my first book by this author. The dialogue cadence is weird. Lots of endless bickering about whether the anticipated victim is truly in need of protection. There's much discussion of other characters and their stories, so I'm guessing a number of previous books should be read in order to understand what's really going on. The ML is hollow, but lots of talk about about his character. Not getting into this.
