One of my all-time favorites. Had to revisit this old friend.

This classic is so interwoven with meaning and philosophy, ancient and modern. Trapped in time and yet, timeless.

The book I wanted to read isn't available from any the three libraries of which I am a member, that book is Pekka Hamalainen's "The Comanche Empire." I picked this one up because of the accolades and awards - long and short listed.

Holy cow, this is a load of buffalo dung. The author uses Eurocentric/Western Civ bias in order to prop up the narrative. Do not, I repeat, do not choose this book if you have good sense.

There is no RuPaul in this. It's all summary, no sharing of risk or real conflict. It's all Pollyanna. Even when there is a glimpse at an obstacle, at tension, at turmoil... It's glossed over and quickly it moves on.

At a third of the way into the book, RuPaul is 18 years old and so far this book is very "safe" in terms of content. In fact, one of the most staid I've read.
