It wasn’t the right fit for my church history class but I figured I’d read it while I have it from the library.

Fine but I got too busy to finish it and it had to go back to the library.

It’s that time of year again, when the freshmen first encounter justice, function and nature, the ideal city, the cardinal virtues, the tripartite soul, the form of the good, the philosopher king, the five constitutions, the ring of Gyges and the myth of Er. Not to mention censorship of poetry and the abolition of the family unit and a few casual (if critical) references to pederasty. I love my job.

This copy is falling apart and almost unreadable but I’ll struggle through for Harriet’s sale.

Tbh I ran out of time and just skimmed for seminar. I’m relying on the fact that I’ve read it at least five times before, and consoling myself that I’ve got the Emily Wilson translation waiting on my shelf for next time I want to read it for real.

Maybe this is the year I’ll make it to the end again. We only do books 1-10 for honors seminar but I’m on an indulgent kick of reading stuff unabridged this semester when time permits.
