Why is it better to last than to burn?

I’ve been thinking of desire quite often in between the white noise of diurnal life. While I’m washing the dishes and walking down North Street, I think of desire and how it lives and breathes within me. Perhaps the ache is necessary. And perhaps I don’t really want it to end.

Note to self: Maybe I need to start charging people for not returning the books I’ve lent to them

I do believe quite vehemently in there being parts of yourself that are lodged in the interstices of whichever house nestled your childhood. Fragments of an earlier being; I remember what it’s like to feel so much larger than your body; when the world was malleable and brighter and rage was a pebble lodged in between your throat. Long hours wondering if my father would come home. Always your strange older child
