Continually surprising and pretty stunning, to say the least. The concluding section and its eponymous hurricane season shuttle the book into a kind of cosmic horror, à la Texas Chainsaw. No holds barred in the work it’s doing with gender and spirituality and desire and violence.

I love this guy. I never wanted it to end.
