i’m reading this quite slowly oops anyways this book is so unpredictable without trying too hard i am very interested to see what’s gonna happen next

i hate doing this but i had to put dune on the back burner and i’m so glad i did bc this is a refreshing change - short story, easy to follow, one main character focus and i get to use my kindle again 😜😜

i’m realizing i’m slower at reading this bc it requires so much brain power that i have like 10% of the day

i love how the author isn’t intentionally making a whole “girl power” trope with his female characters but instead he writes the fmc the same as he would the mmc (paul) without any agenda behind it which i actually find kinda rare in books like these

i am finally on part 2 oh my god

i need to stop beating myself up for not reading this as fast as i usually read but it’s so hard not to

this book was extremely hard to get through in the beginning but now i am absolutely hooked, lady jessica is THAT BITCHHHHHHH

most developed and well written fmc by a male author i rlly wasn’t expecting that

this book is forcing me to analyze every interaction and every detail bc it all means something and we haven’t even gotten to any real fighting yet

why is this nothing but dialogue

this book is unlike anything i’ve read from tjr so far

i am mentally destroyed and not even halfway through yet

okay so i only have a little over 100 pages left so i guess i’ll finish it but the quality is going downhill fast, we started off strong but things started happening and… idk how to feel

even tho it’s fiction i think it’s still important for it to be realistic and with certain things its really not at all

her writing from this to the women has drastically improved, it’s definitely not bad at all tho

so far i only have one main problem that i won’t voice rn

there’s some parts of this book that are excruciatingly relatable and i’m not sure if it’s healing or traumatizing me lol

i was trapped into starting this bc it’s the only one downloaded on my kindle LOL

not mad ab it tho one chapter in i have no clue where it’s going but i’m intrigued

this book airlifted me out of my reading rut and i’m so thankful

i was screaming and kicking my feet for like ten hours reading this i’m OBSESSED

i saw someone say lenore dove seems more like a plot device than a character and i don’t disagree w that but i also don’t thinks that’s a bad thing

the shit that happens for plot development is random asf but i can’t complain bc i’m never bored

if suze ran for president she’d definitely have my vote

at first i thought haymitch was drastically different compared to the guy we see in the main three books (not in a bad way) but i’m seeing semblances of the modern haymitch the further i read

can already tell i’m gonna love this

another non fiction history book but this one’s a lot more digestible than the last one, i also rlly fuck up a murder mystery

but also what happened to these people was horrible i wish i could say it’s unbelievable but it unfortunately is so on track for US history

this is definitely not a pro war book, fuck america ! also probs the most accurate depiction of real life men i’ve ever read and it kinda hurts

has potential, i’m really hoping this isn’t a pro vietnam war red scare capitalism lover type book if it is i’ll literally throw it out

i thought this book would be ab vietnamese women now i’m a lil disappointed that it’s not bc i was excited to read something not american centric for once

no i’m mad. how fucking dare she write celeana and dorian’s story so well and romantic and make me ship them HOW DAREEEE SHEEE (excited for manon and dorian tho but rn i’m mad)

interesting story but boring storytelling

this is probably the slowest i’ve ever read a book not bc it’s bad but it’s j not as captivating as my usual action filled fantasy read

and yes i’m tog is my side piece read rn

so at first this book was difficult to read which is why i’ve been so slow ab it but now that i’ve gotten used to the storytelling style (which i usually don’t prefer/am not accustomed to) it’s actually v compelling and cool that i’m learning ab history i never knew ab before

took some time to formulate my thoughts:
- xadens storyline is getting a little anakin skywalker and i can’t think ab it
- that part where violet was like if you’ll be using signets you’ll be dealing w me ⚡️ FIREEEEE she’s so cool in this book
- i’m thinking xaden is never gonna take that cure LMFAO
- dains growing on me

the reread so far has not changed my mind that this is a perfect sequel, new thoughts:
- i’m 100% on violets side in this whole xaden argument and i actually think she should be angrier
- author is not making a big enough deal ab the whole brennan being alive thing, like srsly think ab how gagged you’d be if you found out the sibling you thought was dead faked his death and started a revolution
