This book is going to be really good

Posting another update so soon after my last one because the book has QUICKLY gotten very intense

Okay I’m finally getting into this plot

Chapter 9 is adjacent to the cutest, sweetest rom-com you’ve ever witnessed

Alright, the tangents have stopped, the chapters have reduced to a reasonable number of pages, and the drama is turning up. I’m locked in now

1. Okay vocals!

2. There’s a pattern in this writing style: the story is cued up, American history is invoked to give context, the story concludes, and a lesson-learned is shared. Idk why this stands out to me; maybe because I’m new to memoirs so it’s interesting to see how different people approach them. I’ve never read a memoir that discusses so much objective American history.

I really want to get into this but these first couple chapters feel insanely long for my “winter break” brain

I swear I’m not trying to use puns but this book is just lovely
