Looking forward to a shorter read to help close the gap on my reading goal. I'd be thrilled to reach 45 (since I will definitely not reach my ambitious goal of 60) (a 20% increase from last year). With how crazy this year has been, only a 10% decrease in my reading is way better than I expected.

Captivating, I love time travel

This narration is impeccable; I actually have chills.

This is not hitting and will likely be a DNF. Too many unexplained characters, no world-building, etc. This was adapted from a fanfic, and it's clear that it relied heavily on readers' existing familiarity with the world of Harry Potter. Without that world-building, it's just vague conversations in vaguer spaces

I unironically want her to end up with the darkness but I'm way too far into the book for that to end up happening

Pros: Main character is not barely 18 (23, this is progress!)
Cons: seems like a "not like other girls" storyline. BUT I need something easy that I know nothing about to get me out of my reading slump >.<

I find the lack of world-building exhausting - I don't think I even know what color hair her kid has. The only world that exists is the main character's mind, whose name I can't even recall. Her work is vague, her marriage is vaguer, and I don't know if I even care

I don't know what's going on or how we got here but this book sure is... Something.

Why the fuck are white people narrating middle eastern characters set in a middle eastern society - this feels so yucky

I love a good title drop in the writing, but I hate a mediocre one even more. So far, it's a solid 3-star read with a potential for 4
