so chapter 22 emotionally destroyed me, cool cool

As much of an Egwene hater I've been, she is the star in this book so far - her confrontation of Elaida was really, really good. I'm also enjoying Rand a lot, and how Sanderson is writing the Forsaken.

However I've just gotten to a Mat chapter and what people say is true about the Sanderson version- he's written like a total red pill loser chud. Not sure what that's about, but I hope it fixes itself soon 😒

Really enjoying the Sanderson takeover so far. The pacing feels efficient, everything that written feels like it has purpose, and the women are characterized SO much better - makes me glad to have stuck it out this far into the series

Would I be smited for saying that I'm barely in but I prefer Brandon Sanderson's prose tenfold over what RJ had been cooking the 5 books prior...? 😬

Elayne is a powerful wizard who essentially set off a magical nuclear bomb (albeit incidentally) only for her to be chided and babied over by women who were first characterized as lethal warriors. This has got to be top 3 most aggravating bullshit of this series yet god make it stop!!!!!

this is such a slog that I needed at two month break and now I'm just finishing it out of spite

the slog has actually begun, because wdym the prologue is 12% of this book and took me two weeks to read 😐

Now that I'm nearing the end of this one, it's not as bad as I thought. There's definitely a lack of action compared to previous books, but what action there has been is interesting. RJs weird way of writing women is once again very apparent and its tough to read thru, but when things are good, it's enjoyable, and I love the plot threads coming together

Between the weird way Robert Jordan likes to write about women in addition to the first chunk of this book being focused on Perrin/Faile i'm thinking i'm not gonna have too much fun with this one 😬

almost 2/3 through and I'm pretty invested! I was scared I'd be super disinterested given the reputation of ~the slog~ but it's not bad at all so far. I do wish there were some more Rand chapters and a Mat appearance tho

Probably the strongest front 1/3 compared to the last few books. The bond between all the girls means everything to me 😭 and bonus points for Nyneave's continual growth and Elayne stepping into herself!!

Need to know what RJ was smoking to think anyone would enjoy how god awful the Perrin/Faile/Berelain dynamic is. PUT IT TO REST ALREADY!!! IM TIRED

everything else is great though!

With each passing book I'm just more and more convinced that Perrin and Faile would be remarkably better characters if they had nothing to do with one another

Perrin having internal monologue about how women are strange (shocker) in the same paragraph about how he can smell that Faile is amused is not lost on me

Nyneave literally doing the impossible, bringing out skills that have NEVER BEEN THOUGHT POSSIBLE, and she still is being diminished by the Aes Sedai bro I CANT!!!! Does RJ just want us to hate them or what!!??! Free her IMMEDIATELY!!

Nyneave finally called out the AS for being useless, I love this woman.
