I read the 2 homilies on fasting in preparation for lent. The first had the effect of opening my eyes to the power of fasting. Not as self-help but as working Good in us.
The second homily focuses on fasting as preparation of our soul for warfare, and he likens not fasting to a soldier or athlete who doesn’t train. He is very condemning of those who neglect this practice, but if it is our preparation, is he wrong?
