I was captivated by the cover and title. Trees, old, new, knarled, broken, fully ladened with leaves. All hold a magic that I can't explain how or why they mean so much to me.
I like the short chapters that alternate between the human voices and The Fig Tree.. .

Intend to go back to it at some point

Started today whilst waiting for my daughter,she's gone to her craft session.

OMG! Started this awhile ago but stopped because I couldn't get into it properly.
For some reason I felt now would be the right time to pick it back up.
Beautifully written. My own mental health at this time is taking a hit. Listening to the audible version I find myself needing to hear the words from Morrie....

Am loving this book with it's gorgeous cover.
Takako and her journey into books is similar to my own.
It's such an easy light read but every now and then it jolts you with the weight of certain passages.

Hirasaka speaking about himself to Hatsue stirred emotion deep inside my being. I feel these stories will be about his journey and purpose just as much as they belong to the story tellers themselves.
Extraordinarily moving..yes! Wise..definitely! This beautiful Japanese, The Lantern of Lost Memories, tale about the people who make us and the moments that change us has had me gripped from Page 1!

OMG! Am so caught up with the writing in this book. Profound. Vividly descriptive with the power to touch my heart ❤️

I'm finding this book very difficult to put down
Full of illuminatingly beautiful writing which carries you along with it.
Memories, reflections of the past 50yrs in a never-ending changing landscape of occupation.

I love the illuminating descriptive writing. ❤️ yet all the while visions
In the back of my mind, of now and am wondering how the writing would go if it were written during this period of occupation 💔💔💔
