this is interesting because it is still “literary” in typical patchett fashion (deep character studies) while having heightened drama even if relatively little plot

3 stars so far? this book is even more vulgar than DCC which is impressive and was at first off-putting. i think tonally the prologue and first chapter are much grosser (frankly near repulsive?) than the later ones. davi isn’t exactly a bundle of love, to put it lightly.

but i am enjoying it more as i go. very naddpod-y where you need to suffer through 5 min of bad dragon sex jokes to get to the better content.

GOD THIS BOOK

i thought this was going to be litfic, which it is, but not LESBIAN!! huge dubs

book about a lesbian astronomer/astronaut discovering herself who seems like mildly on the spectrum who loves joni mitchell and thinks god is the universe merely existing and the duty we have to other people and the world and in moments of peace and humanity like yeah this was made for me

i started the audiobook but didn’t love that so i decided to spend my plane ride(s) reading this instead (after losing my fear and loathing in las vegas loan 😔) and im so proud of myself for resisting the urge to read the wikipedia summary of this book at 100 pages in. i am enjoying

wow wow wow i love ann patchett’s writing, immediately requesting more on libby. picked this up on a whim at b&n, such a pretty book on the outside but also so lovely on the inside. very chill and not a ton of plot but i kind of love it. most of all i love the way the women and how they are written and the relationships between mom and daughter like this book makes me want to be a mother LOL

immediately obsessed with the premise (metro lines. of course i love it). especially after last level was all cities and they took the stairs down?! like yes i see you mr dinniman thank you. also this book is LONG i am #content

unbearably millennial….. i fear this will be a dnf…. gonna try a little more
