loving this so far but olivia laing is obsessed with saying [noun]-cum-[noun] (eg pout-cum-smirk, or memoir-cum-polemic) it’s peppered in so liberally that it’s like shes trying to make me go 🤨

wanted to read this for years but its out of print and i couldnt get my hands on a copy. randomly found a pdf and im literally in tears from the introduction because i wish i had this two years ago it would have made my work so much better :(

got to the part where he started getting really into investing and puttered out but im pushing through because i think his work is so good. the boy who went over niagara falls is a genius piece

rereading as i do every year before school starts. once again this book is sexy. topheavy (“in the ring” is my favorite, followed by “ornamental cookery”) but worth reading to the end :)

inching through this book at a snails pace. i officially denounce art history and im changing my major to computer science. no just kidding i’ll finish it but i gotta say the renaissance and early modern era is not my world nor will it ever be lol

various boys in my life keep giving me books and i will keep reading them. two pages in and this guy is already dunking on contemporary art lol wait til he hears that the salvator mundi is a fake … a composite leonardo displayed to appease the interests of the rich 🙄
