So far, I’m enjoying this tale. I’m curious to see how the two girls lives progress as they are apart. I have found it to be the first series to keep my attention for a while. I read primarily fantasy, but of late it seems like everything I’ve picked up has started strong and fallen flat. This one has *so far* drawn me in and kept me interested. Looking forward to seeing where it goes.

It’s been a difficult read. There were so many opportunities to make it a better story. The narration style telling makes it a bit dull. She uses the description of a creature trapped in amber way too much, and the history is off. Sacré cœur cathédrale didn’t exist in 1724. Such an easy fix. The concept is solid, just not told well.
