Every time I think this book is going to zig it zags. Absolutely did not expect where we’re headed to.

Mixed feelings at the moment. Great world building as a whole but I can’t get over Darrow and Eo being 16 years old. Child marriage will always be weird to me even on another planet. Second, I’m a little confused how the map with all the houses is going to play in. Also Mars and Ares are the same god. So… I hope this is all intentional.

I have decided that I like the book, its characters and its writing style. Jury is still out on Olive but I understand her better now. I really like the line that Lucy said about how bullies are just afraid and that’s what Olive is.

Unsure at this point how to feel about Olive Kitteridge. I’m finding her a bit unlikable but then thought better of it and googled if her character is on the spectrum. People think she’s autism coded but in this moment I don’t know if that is the pretext or an excuse for her behaviour.

I’m enticed, but there are somehow already so many run on sentences that I’m having trouble understanding what’s being written.

Tbh I don’t know if I’m really getting anything out of reading this. I already know humanity is disgusting and this just takes in several giant steps further. She really thought of every detail and intricate plot hole in this society and the thought of immersing myself in that role as the author so fully makes my brain and heart hurt. I would have gone insane.

I don’t really know why I’m suggesting myself to this anymore. I’m back and forth between zoning out and disbelief. I don’t think I’ve grimaced for such a long consecutive period of time before.

Not her getting pregnant. I can’t take this.

Not really sure why I’m choosing to read this tbh. This is disgusting. Well written and makes extremely good points about humanity but truly disgusting.
