October 23, 2025 starting this book from the beginning again since I I switched to another book and so forgot the first five chapters

Pct 13, 2025: I am 2:24 in the book (17m in two chapter 2) and I suspended listening to this book while I complete the great unknown that just arrived

With a short break between library audiobooks, jumping back into chapter 2 of the variable man, but just as I did that three more audiobooks popped up from the library

I finished the short story “Hell is the absence of God” which is very strange you had kept my interest throughout, but in terms of rating I can only give it a three as OK not great not poor just strange.

This is an excellent narrator, whose voice brings to life the personality of the boisterous young lady Sidney Kenik who is the energetic with ADHD as main character in this thriller

“ the story of your life” does get a bit tedious, following the attempt to understand the alien language, but still interesting to see an approach that could be used although you will have to bear with all the details

“The story of your life” presents a fascinating, scientific dilemma: What if you had the book which contained the story of your life? What if you read the page for today and decided to make changes? If the story of your life is correct, how can you change what has already is in print. this touches upon the concept of free will, destiny and quantum fluctuations.

Today I finished the short story division by zero, it ended abruptly, and I’m not sure what the ending signified, I’m not sure what the story was about.

This is a great book, but you might wanna skip chapter 5 what is inside a black hole. Many very complex mind blowing concepts that are at Best difficult to understand and may not really have any relevant to us., except for the exercise in theoretical physics

At about 45% the book got very interesting again

Resumed this book today, it’s somewhat humorous that every so often you hear this book continued on disk 5, then disc 5 (substitute the number)

The whole and the audiobook expired and so it was put on hold again, and I may continue it at some point.

Half hour into this 12 hour audiobook (27/47 min of Chapter 1), so I just started it but not very interested and switched to another book.

At one hour and 13 minutes into this book, with 12 hours and 15 minutes remaining, I put this book on hold because my interest was grabbed by the book thief

Well, my quick switch over to three body problem convinced me to drop three body problem and come back to this book and give it at least a try

Changed my mind at 66%. I’m giving up on this book, it’s just too much. A lot of somewhat interesting scientific ideas introduced quickly without much contemplation in interspersed with rebellion’s, and lots of names just losing interest.

After taking a break for three days, jumping into another book, the lost bookshop, I got bored with that book and jumped back into three body problem

At 25% through the book I got a little bored and switched back to continue with three body problem

This looks like a fascinating book, I started it as an audiobook and quickly realized I need to get the physical book or at least the e-book. Audiobook is not a good format for this type of book so I will read it later.

Like every good, psychological thriller, this one is full of a lot of twists and surprises. When things seem to slow down and you least expected, there’s another big twist. At 50% of this book when I thought I had it figured out things changed again.

Halfway through this second book in the series and I am underwhelmed. It’s definitely a continuation of the first novel and not a standalone novel. It does not have the page Turner suspense and surprises and thrills of the first book, but rather is kind of repetitive and lame right now I would be generous to give it a 3 at this halfway point.

What a plot we weave with the bad decisions we make

Wow! This book sets the bar for the genre. Without giving away anything, let me say the plot is full of surprises. It is very difficult to kill another human being, so well illustrated by the dilemmas created in this plot.

Don’t read this book or you won’t be able to enjoy another mystery thriller as much as this one. But if you do decide to kill someone, read this book first, you may change your mind.

I’m a third way into the book and some surprises are developing

The story starts out with a gripping first chapter, then starts to fizzle out at the next chapter

Although this is a sci-fi fantasy, it’s a metaphor of what is happening today, of what has happened in the past, of what will happen in the future.
