Winston gets kidnapped by the thought police and he realizes he’s been betrayed by everyone he thought he knew. He’s put through so much torture and basically gets turnt into a mindless vegetable and follower of the party.

Winston meets a girl named Julia who is a “rebel” and actively goes against party rules. They secretly meet up for weeks. Winston also goes to where the proles live and try to see if they remember anything from before the revolution. He then stops at an antique shop and buys a small paperweight that had valuable turquoise in it.

The book starts out with Winston complaining
about a sore above his ankle that greatly pains him. Then it kinda starts describing the world he lives in. Oceania, which is one of the 3 mega countries in the world. They follow the lead of Big Brother, who promotes the following “Freedom is Slavery, War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength.” It’s pretty interesting so far.

The book dives deeper into her traumatic experience at Straight, Inc. Cyndy recounts the daily mental and emotional torment like being forced to "motivate" by flailing and yelling, or being attacked by peers for minor rule-breaking. As time passes, she begins to internalize the program’s language and rules, showing how deep the psychological manipulation runs. This section captures her struggles really well.

Cyndy gets sent to an old comers house and she is forced to strip down again to be checked for drugs. They take everything she has on her that could be used to kill herself and make her sleep in a locked room full of mattresses. This book is really starting to get interesting but it is a little traumatizing.

Its revealed that Cyndy gets sexually abused by her moms husband Jacque and she tries to run away when he gets mad at her and starts hitting her. She stays at friends and her older sisters house until the authorities take her and they send her to a drug rehab center called “Straight”. There they manipulate her into confessing that she does drugs and drinks alcohol. They are also very abusive and cruel to them.

The story starts off with Cyndy talking about her first time smoking pot. She was 13 years old, went to Bridgeport with her friend Joanna. They hung out with older boys for a couple hours and then Cydny got so high she went a laid down. Unfortunately, one of the older boys took advantage of her and sexually assaulted her while she was “passed out”, but she was aware the whole time and couldn’t move.

The ending was very expected. They had a small breakup because Asher raced a former teammate after he promised Scarlett he would stop. She found out because he was in the hospital. Then his coach benched him until further notice. After a few weeks and some pep talks, he got his head in the game and got Scarlett and his team back. Scarlett performed at her staff showcase for the first time since her tragic accident.

All they’ve done since my last update is go on dates and talk about how they’re gonna break the news of their relationship to Vincent. They spend their last days alone together in Japan while Asher is on a PR trip, and cherish the last moments they have before everything changes.

Still kinda boring but things picked up when Vincent (Scarlett’s brother and Asher’s enemy) shows up unannounced at Scarlett’s flat while Asher is there. They do their best to hide their relationship from him but know it won’t last long. Asher and Vincent start to kinda get along after a match they played against Scarlett’s ex, whom they both have a mutual hatred for. They beat him up for disrespecting her.

Scarlett and Asher are starting to get closer, when Asher’s father suddenly has a heart attack and they end up having to go to the hospital. There, Asher’s mom questions Scarlett and Asher’s relationship and his dad is skeptical about Asher’s intentions. This is pretty much all that’s been happening, the book is kinda dragging on so I’m hoping the plot will pick up soon.

Okay I changed my mind I love this book. It was slow at first but now the plot is starting to thicken. Scarlett and Asher finally kissed but they were pretending like it never happened, so tension is high. They then go on double dates to make the other jealous but it turns out that their dates were actually exes so it was awkward.

I don’t really know how I feel about this book yet. The plot feels like it’s going fast but dragging on at the same time. It’s hard to stay interested for long periods of time. The story is about a famous football (soccer) player, Asher Donovan, and his trainer, a former prima ballerina, Scarlett Dubois. Unfortunately, his biggest enemy is her brother. They are “forbidden” by her brother to be together.

Last week I was out of this class for my FBLA project and then on friday i was at my FCCLA star event so i didn’t get much reading in. My next review will be my goodreads for this week.

Sloane and Xavier break up, and Sloane is finally able to cry after not being able to her whole life. She runs into her ex step mother at a restaurant and she tells her that her younger sister refuses to eat until she sees Sloane. Sloane then meets up with Xavier at the Empire State building where they reconcile and become an official couple.

Sloane meets up with her ex fiancé who is now married to her pregnant sister, and he tries and fails to get back together with Sloane. Sloane records their conversation and shows it to her sister when she comes storming into her office accusing her of trying to get with her husband. Afterwards, Sloane, exhausted, goes back to her apartment where she finds her pet fish dead. Xavier stays a few days withhertocomfort.

Xavier and Sloane take their relationship to the next level and start officially dating. Sloane runs into her estranged family members at the hospital and they discover that she has been keeping contact with her half sister, Pen, over the years. We find out that Sloane’s other sister is married to her ex fiancé and that is the reason for her estrangement from her family.

I can’t update this week because I was gone every class period this week and I don’t have my book today because of the field trip cancellation.

Xavier’s father has just recently passed, and Sloane comes to a shocking realization. His father put her in his will to be apart of a committee that decides whether or not he comes into his inheritance. The terms he must follow are becoming CEO of a company before he turns thirty, which is in six months. Xavier decides to start a night club and he has only six months to network, find a location, and start things.

I love this book so far. It’s about a publicist, Sloane, and her lazy, unmotivated, but filthy rich heir to the family empire, client Xavier. They make a compromise that if Sloane takes off work for just a week and enjoys and relaxing vacation with Xavier, then he will hold off on drawing any attention to himself and causing bad publicity.

In Brazil, Ale and Dom agree to let each other see other people without interfering, mainly Dom, since he is still on the chase to win Ale back. During one of her dates, Dom overhears him saying awful things about her on the phone and tells Ale. They end up making up and having an exclusive relationship. They are currently on the way to salvaging their marriage.

Alessandra and Dominic are still in Brazil. Ale finds out that her mom is getting married again for the 4th time and invites Dom. They dance together and reminisce over old times when they were a happy couple. Dom convinces Ale to go on one date with him to win her back.

Alessandra goes on a trip to Brazil to visit her brother and start fresh. However, Dominic, desperate to win her back, takes his precious time off work and follows her there. Alessandra is battling staying far away from her ex husband and falling into temptation to reconnect with him.

Alessandra and Dominic Davenports marriage started out beautiful, full of passion and love. That passion dissipated slowly over the years as Dom started to prioritize work over his wife. She becomes fed up when he misses their 10 year anniversary and divorces him. Now he must try everything in his power to win her back.

I’ve gotten to the part where Kai does not win the CEO vote. Isabella has gotten a new job, but she didn’t finish her manuscript in time and her family is extremely disappointed. I feel a breakup brewing between Kai and Isa soon!!!

I’ve reached the peak of the story, and a lot of things are going on. They’ve officially started dating and spent the holidays together, but that high soon crashed when they were publicly exposed and Isa lost her job because workers aren’t allowed to fraternize with members. Besides all that, this book is still so interesting and I find myself not able to put it down.

I love this book. It’s the second one in the Kings of Sin series and I read the first one earlier this summer. It’s so enticing given it’s a slow burn romance and they are forbidden lovers. So far I’m really enjoying this book.

This book just got so much more interesting. She ends up spending 3 months in the woods, and was forced to do terrible things per the staffs request like eating her own vomit to get her to snap, but she never did. She found out she was being sent to a school named Carlbrook, where she has to take part in their oddly mentally abusive therapeutic strategies until she turns 18 and can finally graduate.

In retaliation to her acts, her parents had her kidnapped in the middle of the night and taken to a wilderness camp in the middle of the Appalachians. There, she is forcibly strip searched and humiliated by the staff. This book is incredibly interesting but it also makes you feel like you’re there experiencing it with her. I really like it so far.

Elizabeth is a troubled teen, battling with undiagnosed depression and unexplained rage. She acted out by doing drugs, drinking, and hanging around the wrong crowd. All of this was so that she could get her parents attention in some way. PART 1
